I did the 12 files and the full install, BUT then disaster struck. Can
you help with the following?:

I have an 8MB Millenium II 220 MHz driving an Iiyama Vision Master Pro
17 inch (9017E) and have just downloaded XFree86 3.3.2 because I heard
here that it could produce an X display at 1600x1200 in 32-bit colour
rather well.

However I get some funny errors when I try to run XF86Setup in order to
set this up:

I am logged in at root, then:

>cd /usr/X11R6/lib/X11
>XF86Setup
>Would you like to use existing XF86Config for defaults?
I have answered both yes and no here and get the same as follows:

This may take a while, Press Enter to continue. (Enter pressed)

I get a screen of coarsely-spaced white dots with my curser that follows
the mouse.
Then a brief download screen with a mangled streaky image at the top of
the screen.
Then that coarsely-spaced white-dotted screen again.

After I press Cntrl+Alt+backspace to return successfully to a command
line, I find the following errors:

"This program is running on a different virtual terminal.
Please switch to the correct virtual terminal"

I would be glad to if I knew what was meant and how to do it.

Has anyone else had this happen and can they tell me what to do to get
XF86Setup working under XFree86?

There is also the additional error:

"XF86Setup: can't resolve symbol 'XkbQueryExtension'.

I suppose I have something else missing, Can any who knows what's going
on help?

Thanks

Roger
