Thank you for your patience. With your help I have now found all the
info, but there are still a few points I am not 100% sure of.

Remember I am starting from an early RedHat 4.0 boxed set installation
but have changed my graphics board to an 8MB Mill II (PCI). Previously I
had a 2MB Mill I which worked fine at 1600x1200 using Metro-X from the
boxed set.

Can you confirm the following are correct before I start the big
download of the 11 files you listed:

(1) I am planning to follow the instructions for a full install because
my existing XFree86 is version 3.1.1

(2) I shall download  from .../3.3.2/binaries/Linux-ix86/ directory and
NOT from the glibc-version directory (Linux-ix86-glibc). Is this right?
I don't understand this glibc business and when it came in.

Stupidly I had downloaded README and found it pretty vacuous.
