GMC is Gnome Midnight Commander, the original file manager for Gnome. Nautilus used to be dog slow, but recently a lot of speed issues have been addressed. I dont think RH9 ships with the most recent Nautilus, so before you ditch it, please try the latest version. Try these to speed up your experience: Try using the 'nice' command to increase X's kernel priority ( sorry Ive never needed to do it, please google for howto ), ask Nautilus to stop rendering the desktop, replace any large bitmaps ( such as backgrounds ) with solid colors, ... Can anyone else think of any more tweaks? Cheers, Ryan -- redhat-list mailing list unsubscribe mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
