One of the things that I have noticed is that downloads are considerably faster in Linux than Windows. This is particularly noticeable with small files.
Without a GUI, Linux is spectacularly efficient. It seems to do a much better job of knowing what to keep in the swap vs. memory. The native applications remind me of how much got done with 64K in CP/M. And it NEVER crashes.
