Once you've exported your DISPLAY, and have your Exceed X server running, just run "startx"
Use "startx" when you actually need to start the X server on the local machine.
If you want to start your X session, use the appropriate command, which probably should be "/etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc"
You also might use "/etc/X11/xdm/Xsession gnome" or "/etc/X11/xdm/Xsession kde"
