I startx and get the error:

Using authority file /home/wes/.Xauthority
Writing authority file /home/wes/.Xauthority
Using authority file /home/wes/.Xauthority
Writing authority file /home/wes/.Xauthority


Fatal server error:
PAM authentication failed, cannot start X server.
        Perhaps you do not have console ownership?

I've edited inittab to start with id:3:initdefault:

What now?

Once you've exported your DISPLAY, and have your Exceed X server running, 
just run "startx"
