If Linux is to succeed at the corporate/business level it must be perceived as "easier" than windows. Being "cheap" does not cut it if you have to hire a team of "experts" to just get up and running, update programs or such.. Mr Gates uses this fact to argue that windows is "cheaper" with respect to TCO.. (total cost of ownership). This weighs heavy on the "suits"..<G>
Frankly windows is not all that easy. Ever heard of "dll hell"..<G> Between that and viruses, stability issues and the like, the Linux community has a good chance to compete but I fear that this kind of statement just reinforces that windows is "easier" and "that is fine with us"..???? <sigh>
