I am going to buy the boxed set from my U's bookstore. Will I qualify for
support, or do I have to get it directly from Red Hat? Last time I
considered buying directly from Red Hat there was an absolutely ridiculous
shipping charge involved (I live in Canada). I recall being quoted a
shipping charge of $40-$50.

I've been doing incremental upgrades. First I had an overclocked P75.
Then last fall I bought another P75 and a Tyan Tomcat IV motherboard.
Last weekend I bought 2 P200MMX chips. :)
Hard drives are next in line for upgrades. What more can I do.. I'm a
broke student. :)
I do start work on Monday... which means a paycheque two weeks later...oh
the possibilities. :)

Yes, in particular if you do compilations with make -j3. Compilations are
'real-life' activities for me. :)
I'm sure that anyone would get some kind of performance gain, no matter
what they do, but the real gain would come if more programs were threaded.
At least linking with glibc takes us part way to that goal.

Actually this is the reason why I want to upgrade to 5.x, I'm expecting
some kind of gain in performance since glibc is reentrant.
Also is XFree linked against glibc?

I just wanted to cover as many possibilities before the fact.

:)
I'm sold.

Sigh. That's #2 on the list, after the hard drives.
