Hi list, I'd like to thank everyone for their input. I have now opted to host a tarball myself, and try to work with the upstream maintainer on providing tarballs for the future. Although the upstream maintainer appears to be unresponsive at the moment, it should be the best way forward.
The new version of the port uses my tarball and does not require any patches or fishy build.sh scripts. Any comments, suggestions are of course again highly appreciated :-) Regards, Florian
