I've just discovered two interested facts about Eneloop batteries.

First, Panasonic acquired Sanyo in 2009. As a result, Eneloop batteries are labeled as "made by Panasonic", but it looks like only since 2013.
Somehow Sanyo brand still existed on the label until that.
At the same time, it looks like in some countries Eneloop batteries were branded as Panasonic (without Eneloop.)

I did not understand what to make out of the fact that in 2009, during that acquisition, "Sanyo ... sold its NiMH battery business to Fujitsu subsidiary FDK":
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eneloop
If someone knows more about that, - I'd appreciate that information.
I've seen some people mentioning buying Fujitsu rechargeable batteries
as an alternative to Eneloop. Are those the same as Eneloop?

Second, - I finally understood why batteries are sold as "accessories":

Cheers,

For rechargeable AA my preferred battery is the Eneloop Pro (black, high capacity). They have a low self discharge, which means that even a year after charging they still have most of their charge. The high capacity don't have quite as many recharge cycles as the low capacity, but for me it's worth it to get that many more flashes out of the speedlight.
