My desire was to get real Pentax repair people to tackle the problem as they 
might have access to Pentax-specific calibrating/testing equipment for the 
final stages of putting the lens back together. I don't think I should to go 
through the trouble and cost of sending the lens to USA, there are enough 
generic repair places here and the cost would be like 1/10th.

And yes, it sounds very strange to me too. But I guess it's the way things work 
in 21st century, if it's not a current product, you might as well forget about 
any authorized service people even touching the thing. I am just angry it took 
half a year of it traveling Europe for me to get this message.
