I'm not sure, although I suspect they were early. I bought mine on the first day they were available from B&H. I don't think all early cameras had out of spec autofocus for the in-lens motors, but some definitely did. However, since your camera was in for service, I would guess it's okay. I think a calibration check is performed with every service job.

Do you remember what era these K10D's may have come from, and how
bad/off the AF was with yours.

I'm debating on getting the 50-135, and not wait for the 60-250, for
what i think will be my last equine year.

While both my DA* 16-50 and 50-135 autofocused great with my K20D from the time they were new, they didn't focus properly with the K10D, although other FA and DA lenses worked fine with the 10. I sent the 10 to Pentax Colorado without the lenses, and they were able to fix it. I think some K10D's were
made with incorrect calibration for lenses with in-lens motors.

The 16-50 which took some weight when I dropped my camera bag a couple

Clearly I busted something off and it's now gumming up the works. Darn it
all, that really bums me out.

Back into the Pentax service department again. Nuts!

On the bright side: I found (before I dropped it) that it focuses
flawlessly at all focal lengths with my friend's K20D. So... someday when I upgrade I'll have a lens which I can just leave on AF even when at 16mm. Or
I can live without my K10D for a month by sending them both in for
calibration (shudder). Don't think I can live that long without a camera in
my hands.
