Similar thing happened to my old FA 28-105. Sent it in to Pentax with my K100 body for a warranty repair (on the camera - paint chips on the screen) and they 'accidentally' repaired the lens for free. No questions. You might find that they do the same with the 16-50 if you send the body in at the same time. Is either in warranty?

The 16-50 which took some weight when I dropped my camera bag a couple weeks ago now doesn't zoom wider than about 20mm before it stops.

Clearly I busted something off and it's now gumming up the works. Darn it all, that really bums me out.

Back into the Pentax service department again. Nuts!

On the bright side: I found (before I dropped it) that it focuses flawlessly at all focal lengths with my friend's K20D. So... someday when I upgrade I'll have a lens which I can just leave on AF even when at 16mm. Or I can live without my K10D for a month by sending them both in for calibration (shudder). Don't think I can live that long without a camera in my hands.
