While both my DA* 16-50 and 50-135 autofocused great with my K20D from the time they were new, they didn't focus properly with the K10D, although other FA and DA lenses worked fine with the 10. I sent the 10 to Pentax Colorado without the lenses, and they were able to fix it. I think some K10D's were made with incorrect calibration for lenses with in-lens motors.
Funny thing is, I tried it with a downgraded firmware to see if it behaved the same with the screwdrive, and it couldn't autofocus at infinity with that, either. But that was before the LAST repair. So who knows? We'll see how it fares on its 3rd visit to Pentax since April of last year.
Thing is: when it works, it's a great lens. And for those who are keeping score, this last problem is one I caused by dropping it, so we can't blame QC for this (although you'd hope it were more robust than it turned out to be).
If I had a spare Pentax body rattling around somewhere, I'd send the K10 in to get it tuned. But I don't, so I struggle on.
