Just because you don't understand it, doesn't make someone else's use 
manual white balance any less valid.

Because they can't be stuffed processing RAW files?

I shoot RAW exclusively, and I use AWB 90% of the time, but there are 
situations where I want to get everything as right a possible to save me 
time & effort in front of the computer. For instance, panoramas, every 
thing is fixed exposure, focus & WB.
