Thanks for the offer. It's kind, but the R2400 is more than I want to pay, so the prints wouldn't really help me.
I'm not planning to send the jpeg for printing - it is shown for illustrative purposes only! The original is a Kodachrome slide; if I use this picture I will rescan it and prepare it for each of the printers, assuming I can find their ICC profiles on-line. I would like to try and get 3 samples, from a slide, a colour neg and from a RAW file from my E500, to see how the printers treat each one. Another, more boring but perhaps more scientific option, would be to have them print my Q-60 slide scan, I suppose. -- Cheers, Bob > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of Godfrey DiGiorgi > Sent: 03 July 2006 20:15 > To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List > Subject: Re: Pros and cons of dye-sub and inkjet printers > > > On Jul 3, 2006, at 11:45 AM, Bob W wrote: > > > http://www.web-options.com/Saris.jpg > > because it includes large areas of even tone, but with a > lot of detail > > and bright colour, plus shadow detail and subtle tones, rich blacks > > and some highlights. > > > > What do others think of this as an example to evaluate the printers? > > If it's not a good example, what features should be in a > photo to get > > a decent trial of a printer's abilities? > > As I see it on my screen, this is an overly contrasty image > with high > contrast, poor Zone II-V separation, and an overall cyan cast.
