I find that very easy to believe... when I turn off my 2100 with its  
power switch, it spends a few seconds capping the heads before the  
lights go out.  Using the power strip this routine would be skipped,  
so the ink will dry out in the heads.  I probably don't need to tell  
you how bad that is!
