I have a DS and a D, the DS2 is identical to the DS(with the 2.0
firmware revision), except for the size of the rear display screen. The
DS is much faster shooting RAW than the D is. I do find the difference
in controls very annoying. I generally prefer the two wheels on the D,
and it over all gives a more solid impression in the hand, but the
placement of the wheel on the rear Ds is much better. I have yet to
fill the buffer on the Ds when doing what I would consider deliberate
shooting, with at most one or two exposures a second for a series of
three or four shots. The D will choke occasionally when shooting the
same way. The DL has a smaller buffer than the D IIRC.

When you're worried or in doubt,
Run in circles, (scream and shout).
