Must be a different company in Canada.

By the way the worst I came across was Circuit City, I quit that job before they hired me. One Sunday, Best Buy gave me a MVP award in the morning and fired me in the afternoon. I have worked for retailers who paid living wages, so that is not a one to one thing like you seem to think either. Retailing can be fun or it can be hell. It pretty much depends on the store manager, if they change managers you could find yourself to be working in an entirely different atmosphere over night.

I wish you luck in your new endeavors.

Wal-Mart? The only incentive to stay they have is if no one else would hire you. Mass merchandisers mass merchandise everything including employees. Any position short of the store manager they figure can be replaced by the next person who walks in the door. The only reason the store manager can't be is he does the hiring.

Honestly Tom, that's not the Wal-Mart I work for. Keeping in mind that the work is retail sales, and consequently one will never get rich working for them, they aren't a bad company to work for. In many ways, Wal-mart is the best employer I have had in the 30 years I have been in the workforce. I'm leaving an industry that no longer gives me what I need to stay working in it, it wouldn't matter who was cutting my paycheque, it's just time to move on.
