Well, your DS should arrive about the same time as the CD with the firmware update, etc, does. Something to look forward to. ;-)

I'm jealous. Mine arrived early this morning at the FedEx distribution center, about 20 minutes drive from Casa Belinkoff, but FedEx won't deliver it until 9/2 and they won't allow me to pick it up, either. The SD card that I ordered hasn't arrived yet, so the camera wouldn't do me much good,
although I could read the manual and do some preliminary fondling.

Nice to hear that the AF is acceptable.

Yeah, Shel, and I just ordered one today, too. Gee, it looks like some
of the real old-timers are seriously goin' dijahtel - <g>.

Well, it just came, and it surely does look purty...

Not much else here is going to get accomplished today - <g>.

Well, one thing I had to accomplish was updating the firmware to V. 1.02 -

I

was surprised to see that the new DS came with the V.1.00 firmware, and I wanted to be able to use a 2 GB card. The process took less time than it did to read the update ReadMe file (well, maybe not, but ~almost~ - <g>).

Although most of my lenses are manual focus ones, I did want to play

around

with the DS with an autofocus lens on it, and so on went the F

70-210/4-5.6

(the smallest of my three af lenses). Although I haven't used the F

70-210

much before, it does seem to work rather well on the DS (well, at least to this digital newbie it does - <g>). In particular, I am rather surprised with how fast the autofocusing seems to work, even in fairly dim light,

and

even though f/4 to f/5.6 isn't overly fast. And that stingy F-series

focus

ring becomes a non-problem with autofocus...
