To Fred and Shel:

Don't be upset if your NiMH rechargeable batteries don't last as much as expected at the beginning.
That's normal behaviour for the first one or three charge/discharge cycles.

NiMH AA rechargeables are good, if more maintenance work. It's
recommended to buy at least 2300mah capacity and to also invest in a
good quality charger (the Maha MH-C204W from thomasdistributing.com
is considered one of the best).

I just ordered (and received today) a Maha MH-C204W and two sets of 2500mah NiMH's from thomasdistributing.com, to use with my hopefully-soon-to-arrive
*ist DS. The batteries and charger beat the DS to my door, but I'll have
the NiMH's all charged up and ready to go when my Pentax DSLR does arrive
(and, ya know, I really love the fact that I will shortly have a Pentax
DSLR to use with all of my Pentax (and 3rd-party K-mount) lenses - <VBG>).
