I don't think Pentax made that big of an investment at
all in the video business.  They did have several
models out, but some of them were very good ones and
not junk!  The original PVC-800A, for example, takes
very good video that the quality still rivals or
exceeded that of a Canon ZR series MiniDV even in low
light conditions.  In fact, people still want to
repair their PVCs due to this reason to this day.

Anyhow, one of the reasons so many companies had gone
out of business slapping OEM stuff with their name is
simple.  Their product is a total junk.  Their only
hope is to cash in on a boom while they can.  But you
know, no boom ends forever..  Eventually, reality is
going to set in and people will realize that they will
have to buy a quality product and keep it for years to
come..
