So for any other manufacturer like Pentax, it could be more of an uphill battle, I don't know how well the Sigma is doing but I read that the Contax N Digital was plagued with problems and generally a bad product. I think a Pentax DSLR will need to be marketed aggressively unless there are sufficiently die-hard Pentax supporters, or it turns out to be so good that the Canon and Nikon users are willing to invest in another system of bodies, lenses and accessories.
Perhaps it's just me, but I think Contax 135 is a dying system since the AF+digital era. People bought Contax for their manual focus Zeiss lenses which were built beautifully (and don't cost as much as Leica). However, they don't have this advantage anymore with their AF lenses. Not to mention their AF lens line up is very limited.

About Pentax, I don't think they would be able to capture much Canon/Nikon uers for as long as Pentax don't have an extensive line of USM/IS lenses which equal their AF performance. Pentax AF performance would always be 2nd class with curret technology.
