Hi Vera, hi everyone,
We want to scan objects from approximately 3x3 cm to ~30x30 cm.
I saw scanners than have both an automatic mode with an integrated automatic turntable and a hand-held option for more complex shapes. Portability is a plus, but it has to be transportable. For now I do not want to fix a budget, I know that there are many very expensive options but I believe there are more affordable good brands. I'm sure there are people within the community who already have deep thoughts about this question. Since several years I'm using photogrammetry (and CT-scans) but I have seen the recent diversification of 3D scanners and some of them seems much faster and provide really good models.
Cheers
Allowen

Hi Allowen,

It would be useful to know the approximate size of the smallest feature you intent to measure. I guess that a very accurate scanner but with low resolution (and precision) won't probably do :) I presume you're looking for something portable, hand-held (?), and low/medium budget (max.?).

Cheers,

    Dear everyone,

I hope this email find you well.

We are exploring the possibility of bying a new 3D surfacic
    scanner and
we are not sure which one is the best on the market today.

We are looking for a scanner that is:

    - geometrically accurate (of course),

    - can work on objects of various sizes from ~3x3 cm to >30cm
    (bones, skulls)

    - provide texturized/colorized models (that helps for landmark
    positioning)

    - Ideally with both manual and automatic modes

    - that is fast to acquire the models (I saw some models that needs
    only
    ~3minutes for the full reconstruction)

    - with the best quality/price ratio

Any advise is welcomed and if you can send me the model that you
    use, if
you are happy with it or not, if it matchs our criteria, and an
    estimate
of the cost I can compile and share the result of this small survey.

    Thanks a lot

    Have a nice week-end

    Allowen
