Paul, I've never had any problems with the LXF DVD's. I suppose it all depends on the make of your DVD?
The freezing solution sounds like a good work around however look out for moisture spinning away from the DVD, due to condensation as it starts to warm up, I don't think the DVD player will enjoy that!!
