I bought this months Linux Format magazine (LXF133) which now has a thin
Eco-disc DVD attached. This is pretty flexible item and it did look a
bit distorted. Well when I tried it out it would not work in my drive.

I had read on a blog some time ago, that people had been able to recover
date from failed HD's by putting them into a plastic freezer bag and
leaving in the freezer over night. All sounded a bit far fetched to me.

But I thought I would put the failed DVD in my freezer for a couple of
hours and see what happens, there being nothing to loose as it didn't
work anyway.
Guess what after this 'treatment' it works as normal!! May be the low
temperature took out the distortion allowing the disk to spin properly
in my drive?
