They've been using those eco disks for a while and I like the idea..Good to
know that the freezer treatment isnt good only to recover stuck and crashed
HDDs.

And yes, it does work on HDDs, saved a great number of hard disks. Put it in
a bag, freeze for a couple of hours, get it out connect it, take data and
wait for it to crash again !
