This all sounds very encouraging.  I'll try testing the Mesa driver
properly with our stuff again soon (possibly when the final red<->blue
swapping problem fix is in - should this appear in the 3.1 .zip
downloads or will it just be in the CVS trees?).  

(I'm quite interested in trying to find time to look at this at the
moment, since the "official" 3dfx drivers for Win32 appear to crash
randomly on a Voodoo 1, 2 or Rush with a Pentium III (only) for our
game, although interestingly they appear to be stable for Quake 3)
