I haven't had a problem with the widgets being unstable at all. However, there could be any number of variables causing Tiger not to "behave" on your computer - i.e. some sort of poor mix between your 3rd party apps and Tiger.
Given that this is only the first version of Tiger - a little patience may bring you some satisfaction in the long run.
