In what way is Dashboard EXTREMELY buggy? Dashboard itself or the individual widgets? How would you change the "Design"?
I have found that some widgets are a little flakey. For example, the dictionary is cool but some "pages" don't wrap. I'm assuming the markup is bad on the "page" and not the fault of the Dashboard engine itself. When I click on the More Widgets button I get sent to a secure page on the Apple Site. Dunno what that's all about?
The Dashboard interface is new. I'm not aware of any instant access mechanism for little tools like this anywhere else. It is different and I really like the potential of it, both from the personal customization point and the fact that entry level to creating this fun has been lowered.
I think that the Dashboard environment is so different that the widget windows should be different. I dont think that it's appropriate for the windows to have the "normal" Red, Yellow, Green dots that normal windows have. There's no Menu Bar - It's a new and different world - some things should be different. And it's not hard to figure out how to access and put away the widgets.
As far as consistency in the UI of these little beasts, I expect that we could see some wild stuff coming, as well as some really clever and useful items. The thing is there are bound to be widgets coming that you will find useful, and if not, the whole thing is optional and can be easily kept hidden away. It's new and I like it and am willing to put up with some glitches in a shakedown period.
Other Tiger things.
There's the Canadian English Keyboard that gives us anglos the same old key access but with a Canadian flag.
I absolutely love Spotlight in the System Preferences makes it so easy to find the stuff you only might use once in a while.
There's so much to try out. Having a ball.
Cheers, David
