Okay, it sounds like your install CD is fine, and not model specific. The
error message would have said so if that was a problem.

My guess is that your problem stems from using an older version of Drive
Setup. The installer should have updated the driver automatically, but it
sounds like you're going around the main install sequence.

BTW, why are you trying to install 8.0 rather than 8.1? Any Mac that runs 8
can run 8.1 and should, since there were a few improvements, as well as a
fix for a memory leak.

Anyways, here's the procedure I would try:

1) Reformat the drive using Drive Setup 1.5 from the CD. Just use the
default setup.

2) Restart to make sure the drive is running from the new driver.

3) Run Disc First Aid to make sure there is no major problems with the
drive.

4) Run the installer from the CD using the "Install Mac OS 8.1" from the
root level of the CD. No sneaking around to find the OS 8.0 installers
directly. (The install icon actually triggers a script that does a few other
things than just the basic install.)

If it still won't install after that, get back to us with whatever error
message(s) it gives you.
