I recently aquired a 5500/250. It runs fine and I was able to boot it using a boot
disk
that I made as per apples support site, that reccommends version 1.3.1 to update the
driver
for the non scsi (ide) drive. So, I did that, but have been unable to install OS 8.0
on it,
even though the website at apple says this computer supports 7.55 through 9.1. This
computer
did have 7.61 on it which I wiped as it was a mess. Does anyone know, do I have to
obtain a
specific install disk for it, such as I would for a compac or HP? And I thought dumbed
down
install disks were only in the pc world. If I buy a retail version of say 7.55 or 7.6
will it
install on it? Thanks for the memoriez. -Steve-
