Hi Greg,

Let’s be clear: this is not a “rogue effort,” and calling it that is both
inaccurate and unhelpful.

The quiz content is based entirely on ASF policy and Incubator documentation,
the same material we point podlings and mentors to every day. It was created to
help IPMC members, especially new mentors, better understand and apply those
policies. The ASF has a long tradition of community-driven documentation and
training that doesn't require prior PMC approval to exist, and this is no
different in that regard.

The badge, as I’ve already stated, is a personal initiative and not issued by
the ASF. It clearly says so. That distinction has been transparent from the
outset.

Your claim that "nothing in this quiz or badge is supported by the Foundation"
is incorrect. The content is drawn from official ASF sources. Just because the
Foundation hasn’t formally voted to “back” it doesn’t mean the material is
unsupported, it reflects the very policies and practices we expect mentors to
follow.

If the IPMC wants to establish a formal process for endorsing training
materials, that’s a worthwhile discussion. If teh IPMC want to vote on making
it formal, that is also fine by me. Until then, dismissing useful
community-created tools as “misrepresentation” does a disservice to the ASF’s
culture of contribution.

If you're serious about doing something constructive, I suggest you take a look
at the quiz (which I see you haven't done) and provide some feedback on it.

Regards,
Justin
