For that to happen, we'd need an actual GitDevOps workflow for Debian packages, not a set of mutually incompatible incomplete mappings that each violate at least one core assumption that the web frontends make, and by extension, at least one core assumption that newcomers familiar with these frontends will make.

The git mappings are an useful collaboration tool for command line users preparing a package together, but to be useful from web frontends, we'd need explicit integration code for that.

I also think it is more likely that this integration will come for debbugs than for GitLab, simply because of the sheer complexity of the GitLab codebase.
