Not being able to do a MR is OK. Submitting a MR that I think might be useful and never getting any reaction is frustrating.
Is it frustrating enough to prompt you to reach out to the package maintainer(s) through other channels (bug report, E-mail, IRC), or is that level of effort too much to ask?
Note this is not meant as a rhetorical question nor a judgement. I see this sort of response crop up in multiple communities in which I participate and so am trying to understand what is an acceptable amount of investment vs what is deemed too much to bother with. Lots of established open source communities are struggling to cope with (in the opinion of many, unrealistic) expectations from incoming drive-by contributors, and it's a very tough balance to strike between existing workflows and how newcomers think free/libre open source collaboration happens.
