Hey everyone! I would like to introduce a new team, that began informally a bit before DebConf25: the Debian Logging Team!
You can find a bit of information about our goals and our communication channels on Debian Wiki: https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Logging This team is comprised of people sharing a common interest for logging daemons in Debian, and our main focuses are writing new documentation and improving the existing one about logging daemons, as well as providing discussion spaces to share tips about packaging and using these daemons. CCed to this e-mail are maintainers of logging daemons in Debian, who are welcome to join us if they wish, or to ignore us if they don’t care about documentation and communication ;) (more seriously, we are not going to nag at you after this first e-mail, so feel free to join or not depending on how you feel about this new effort) Of course, anyone sharing common interests with us is free to come and lurk in our IRC channel, or even take an active part in our current documentation effort. We don’t have a dedicated mailing-list yet, because we are waiting a bit to see how much activity this team is going to see. We are probably only going to request one if it seems it makes sense with how many we are going to end up, and how many topics we need to keep track of. As you might have guessed from the lack of a Salsa namespace on the wiki article, actual packaging of logging daemons is not part of our goals for now. While some of us, as individuals, might have an interest in improving the packaging of daemons already packaged or bring new alternatives to Debian, this is not what this team is about. So, if you too like logging daemons and would like to see better documentation for them in Debian, please make yourselves known!
