The problem is that my /usr/share/doc/httrack/html was not a link but a directory (now I have create the link).

Hummm,

$ ls -l /usr/share/doc/httrack/html
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 18 2007-11-16 14:16 /usr/share/doc/httrack/html -> ../../httrack/html

I'm thinking of an old upgrade bug from 3.40 to the current version - see <http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=367219>

To summarize, /usr/share/doc/httrack/html *was* a directory, and is now a symbolic link, and was moved from a package (webhttrack) to another one (httrack-doc).

This issue should have been fixed, except in rare upgrade cases (if I am not mistaken when executing a certain upgrade step from an intermediate release), which seems totally unsolvable even after *hours* of unthinkable tries and hacks (dpkg seems not to be able to handle the directory/symlink removal in such case).

Can you uninstall+reinstall httrack-doc and webhttrack and wheck if the problem is fixed ?
