Attempting a new install of Debian 13 with cinnamon on a new Lenovo P16s (see lspci below) Cinnamon freezes within the first 5 minutes, and always freezes if attempt to modify terminal size by dragging sides is made. The only remedy is to power down then back up.

System works flawlessly with other desktops (xfce, gnome etc..)  There are two other machines on this site (different hardware) where Debian 13 and cinnamon work flawlessly.

Message not sent through reportbug since system not up for sufficient time to complete process.  report bug did suggest replacing cinnamon 6.4.10-2 with cinnamon 6.4.13.1  Unable to boot from that system

The problem is most likely related to unexpected issues caused by recent graphics hardware that is not supported (or not well) by the installed kernel, drivers, and firmware (or the necessary proprietary drivers or firmware may be missing). Similar problems have been reported by users with very recent NVIDIA cards, for which the drivers in the Debian repositories are unfortunately not sufficient.

I don't have very recent hardware, because of all the PCs I have, the most recent is almost 4 years old and I haven't been able to reproduce the problem.

I have little experience with Radeon cards (for many years I have only integrated NVIDIA or Intel cards on my PCs), it could be that firmware-amd-graphics package is needed and maybe those and/or drivers and kernels from backports. From your lspci I saw "[AMD/ATI] Strix [Radeon 880M / 890M] (rev d1)", what model it is exactly?

It might be helpful to check dmesg and /var/log/Xorg.0.log for any such issues.

If you don't see anything there and you have everything you need to properly support that video card, then you should check with the ongoing problem by switching to a terminal or connecting with ssh from an external PC to see if there are any processes saturating the CPU and check ~/.xsession-errors for warnings or errors related to the problem.
