I however realise that I missed an important detail in my original report (sorry! 😬). Plugins launched from the Plugins menu work fine, however I added a couple of extremely frequently-used plugins to the main Toolbar, and it is *these* buttons that stopped working (in addition to their icon being replaced with the name of the desktop file). Also, there *is* a system-supplied desktop file for Darktable (and a bunch of other apps), in /usr/share/applications/.
