He proved that the role of poltics, like religion, is mostly symbolic -- it doesn't matter if no one is REALLY in charge, so long as people THINK someone is in charge, they will behave. To a large extent, Reagan was a major influence on my political philosophy. Since his reign was evidence we don't actually need government -- just the idea of government -- to maintain a stable society, then, it follows that all that remains is to convince people they don't even need the idea.
