Thank-you Brian, and yes I usually google but I thought I would ask those that had posted it in case there were others that needed an answer as well.
So my guess was right, and you might as well take a higher rate as a contractor rather than be an at-will employee. At-will means that you are employed by the company at the will of the employee and the employer. You can be fired/let go for any reason without notice. You can also leave for any reason without notice. The employer isn't bound by contact or edict to keep you employed. A non-at-will state means that a company can't fire you unless there have been specific issues and they are all documented. Most, if not all, of the United States is an at-will employer. But lawyers have made it so companies (even in at will states) have to worry about getting sued for negligent dismissal. Hope that helps. It is only when they say "don't tell my boss, they don't know I am looking for a new job" that one has to wonder about their attention to detail :) While we are on that topic, can someone tell me what "employee-at-will" is? Does this mean a full time employee of the contracting company without any employee benefits or notice of being let go; so the contractor has the worst of all worlds: Lower pay as an employee and no protection or benefits?
