Thanks for the great examples! I have a question since you brought up the idea of autodiscovery (or the lack thereof)--how many CIs (ballpark) do you have?
And do you have IT-related CIs mixed in with non-IT stuff? All of the classification is done by CTI just like the old days. When we started on our journey we decide with all of the specialized equipment that we were not going to build classes for everything (radar, cameras, protective clothing, etc). Since this is not a typical IT environment where the staff is intimately familiar with Remedy we needed to keep it as simple as possible and not have menu of classes that scroll off the screen when you want to create/modify/search for an asset, this is one stop shopping. We do use a handful of other classes such as BMC_BulkInventory, BMC_InventoryStorage and plan on using some of the software/application classes in the future. Unfortunately because CI's are located on other DoD networks where we would not be able to discover them or they are not even discoverable items, all of the discovery and updating is done manually. Not the most ideal situation but is a step in the right direction for our project.
