Hi Kai-Uwe!
You are right the most mail(only)apps does not support activesync
because they are only mail apps and do not have any advantage when using
activesync. But all apps that have mail, calendar, contacts built in uses
activesync.
On Samsung phones you have the integrated samsung mail, calendar,
contacts apps and that connects with activesync.
On Iphones you only have push notifications for incoming Mails when
using activesync.

Betreff RE: [SOGo] [Marketing Mail] Re: SOGo 6 no Activesync
Kees, serious question:
What „every mobile mail-clients” do support ActiveSync? Please list
here, I’m curious to know.
I did not find any viable one anymore. Both Nine and BlueMail do not
count any longer as both are buggy.
The standard Gmail app sort of works but cannot be used if your SOGo
e-mail address happens to also
be your Google account’s e-mail address. And someone mentioned the
Outlook app for Android but
I could not get it working and it is also said to store credentials and
user data in Microsoft cloud – bad.
So, any other option? Which?

Hi Quentin and team,
ActiveSync is great for mobile devices:
Every mobile (mail-client) supports it
Users go through one setup for mail, calendar and addressbooks, i.e.
user-friendly setup as well.
From my perspective ActiveSync also allows for pre-authentication, a
poor-mans 2-factor authentication which is not possible with regular
imap/smtp mail.
It is hard to replace because users have to get instructions how to
change the mail on their phones.
I hope you can revisit the decision to stop with ActiveSync as I find
it an easy, simple and relatively secure solution for external / mobile
email.

See my message to this list a couple of days ago about ActiveSync apps
for Android. I really also like
how ActiveSync works (e.g. only one account/connection to configure in
one single app for mail, calendar
and contacts). However, during the search for a suitable app I could
only learn that almost anyone
is abandoning it, even Microsoft.
We recently got the problem that BlueMail on Android which had
supported ActiveSync for a long time
did suddenly not work properly any longer due to its latest update.
That was the trigger why I searched
for an alternative. We had used Nine before BlueMail and when I now
checked Nine again I learned that
the vendor does no longer maintain it in favor of a new solution which
is a cloud based solution and
stores user data there.
So I could only decide to drop both of these and switch to Thunderbird
and DAVx5 on Android.
(We do not use iOS here. And we use Thunderbird on the Desktop,
anyway.)

Same here, we are using Nine because of the ability to import S/MIME
certificates within the app and it would be quite bad if we would not
be able to use it anymore.

Hello !
I have seen that the activesync server will be replaced with MAPI over
HTTP. This is a big feature drop for all our customers. How ist the
plan from SOGo to connect mobile phones without the need of additional
apps or configuration in the future?
MAPI over HTTP is a feature that only is used from outlook. What is
with all other clients that preferred using Activesync ?
