Brian

I may have confused the description of the problem. The formatting of
cell D19 is not relevant to the issue I was noting, since the problem I
reported relates not to what happens in the cells themselves (that's
another story, but Excel and OO are the same on that front) rather to
the behaviour of the summing feature on the status bar along the bottom
centre-right of the screen.

This file (attached again) demonstrates the problem. In OO.org Calc, if
you drag slowly over the list of cells D7 to D16 in this file and watch
the sum on the status line, you will see it increment up correctly until
it reaches 23:59 then reset to 00:00 and continue incrementing again up
to 23:59. The sum on the status bar never shows a total exceeding
23:59.

MS Excel does not do this. Doing exactly the same action in Excel will
cause the status bar time sum feature to continue summing the time up
past 23:59 to the correct value (72:32). That was all I was noting!
