Think I have this problem as well. But its not just freezing when I am
copying things. I kinda found out on a place that Western Digital and
some other external harddrives gets into a so called sleeping mode. In
XP, and Vista, the system tells them to wake up in good time, but Linux
aint doing that. I heard that a update of kernel should maybe fix this
problem.  Linux kernel 2.6.24 . Anyone heard of it? This one should fix
this bug, according to what i heard. Dont know if it works on Ubuntu
though?
