Followed what was suggested here, https : // askubuntu.com/questions/1514649/microphones-dont-work- after-24-04-upgrade and now the mic works, even after a reboot! In short
> mv ~/.local/state/wireplumber ~/.local/state/wireplumber.orig > pavucontrol to verify the mic is still working and then > arecord -vv -f dat /dev/null to see the mic volume changing. (I find it difficult to believe that in 2025 KDE / Plasma still doesn't display the mic input values like Gnome does!) The directory ~/.local/state/wireplumber has been recreated but with only default-routes and restore-stream . These are identical to the files that were present before, but in the .orig directory these files also exist: bluetooth-autoswitch, default-nodes, default-profile and stream-properties Not sure which file(s) are breaking the mic, but I'll attach all of them -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2119367 Title: Ubuntu 24.04 internal microphone has stopped working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/2119367/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
