Assuming this was not a GNOME regression, if NVIDIA driver updates are
going to break libnvidia-egl-wayland1 then we should reconsider if we
want to continue shipping it as a standalone library as opposed to using
the blob from the nvidia driver package.

I'm certain it was useful to have it as a standalone OSS library that
could be patched back when NVIDIA wayland support was still immature,
but perhaps it is not the best option now.
