Hi everyone,

Henrique Carvalho's fix has just been merged to upstream cifs-utils:

commit f4fd27cf60d6431d83ea18b4962aef845f9312bd
Author: Henrique Carvalho <[email protected]>
Date: Fri May 30 12:28:14 2025 -0300
Subject: cifs.upcall: correctly treat UPTARGET_UNSPECIFIED as UPTARGET_APP
Link:
https://git.samba.org/?p=cifs-utils.git;a=commit;h=f4fd27cf60d6431d83ea18b4962aef845f9312bd

Additionally, it seems there was another regression caused by
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cifs-utils/+bug/2099917
that introduced a memory leak. This is also fixed in the recent merge to
upstream cifs-utils:

commit dc013738ec1f2e67598b264fe2eabf94c5a34570
Author: Paulo Alcantara <[email protected]>
Date: Tue Apr 15 13:20:52 2025 -0300
Subject: cifs.upcall: fix memory leaks in check_service_ticket_exits()
Link:
https://git.samba.org/?p=cifs-utils.git;a=commit;h=dc013738ec1f2e67598b264fe2eabf94c5a34570

A few minutes ago these are tagged and released as cifs-utils 7.4:

https://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2025-June/139484.html

I won't fix questing, we will just sync 7.4 from debian when the time comes,
hopefully soon.

For every other release, I will get these into new test packages ASAP, expect me
to post back in ~1h.

Thanks,
Matthew
