I replicated the issue again a) updating the packages ( from 1.0-2ubuntu1 to 1.0-2ubuntu1.2 ) b) reboot c) ---> no network config
I then run "netplan --debug apply" and "netplan --debug generate" then reverted back to the old packages and rebootet again -> everything is OK. see my file permissions & umask: # umask 0022 # ls -l /etc/netplan: drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 12 Aug 20 15:22 . drwxr-xr-x 94 root root 186 Aug 20 15:23 .. -rw------- 1 root root 887 Jul 27 17:19 01-netcfg.yaml -rw------- 1 root root 1234 Jul 4 15:52 01-netcfg.yaml.ORIG_20.04 -rw------- 1 root root 747 Jul 4 16:09 01-netcfg.yaml.ORIG_notworking_modified -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 793 Jul 26 00:11 01-netcfg.yaml.x -rw------- 1 root root 502 Jul 26 01:20 01-netcfg.yaml_mini # ls -l /run/systemd/network: drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 460 Aug 20 15:33 . drwxr-xr-x 24 root root 600 Aug 20 15:33 .. -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 30 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-br0.netdev -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 169 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-br0.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 30 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-br7.netdev -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 81 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-br7.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 30 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-br8.netdev -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 81 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-br8.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 30 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-br9.netdev -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 81 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-br9.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 48 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp3s0f0.5.netdev -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 88 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp3s0f0.5.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 74 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp3s0f0.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 48 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp3s0f1.7.netdev -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 97 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp3s0f1.7.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 48 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp3s0f1.8.netdev -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 97 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp3s0f1.8.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 48 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp3s0f1.9.netdev -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 97 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp3s0f1.9.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 106 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp3s0f1.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 65 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp4s0.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 56 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp6s0.network -rw-r----- 1 root systemd-network 65 Aug 20 15:21 10-netplan-enp9s0.network Please note, that my config example I delivered to this bugreport was simplified ( but also never worked with the latest packages) So, do not be confused if you see more interfaces listed above as in my original configuration I also attached the debug output to this bugreport - as mentioned above -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2074266 Title: 24.04: latest netplan updates fail to apply already working config To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/netplan.io/+bug/2074266/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
