@Roger: As you might have guessed from my post in 2014 I was able to solve my personal problem. In fact I've been able to use the software written by Joerg Schilling by compiling it myself.
And ... more important I am also very happy that I was permitted to use it over many years in the past without ever paying a dime to Joerg Schilling! I support the point made in your ebook that cdrkit made everything worse. For the average user of GNU-Debian Linux or Ubuntu Linux the option to find and include brandons PPA is certainly unnecessary tedious. The anyone with the power to influence Ubuntu or even better Debian upstream to full fill this long standing promise from 2009 should speak up.
